Striated Heron (Butorides striata) is endemic to the Galapagos Islands and sometimes confused with the lava heron. Its brown-streaked plumage, accented by a glossy green back and a striking black cap during breeding season, provides exceptional camouflage among the mangroves and volcanic rocks.
