Explore Reykjanes Peninsula

The Reykjanes Peninsula is located in the southwestern part of Iceland, extending from the capital region of Reykjavík to the southernmost tip of the country. It’s one of the most geologically active regions in Iceland, sitting on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates diverge, making it a hotspot for geothermal activity, volcanoes, and unique landscapes.
Recent eruptions, including one that started on November 20, 2024, and ended on December 9, 2024, have highlighted its active nature.
